with spinal canal stenosis. The main purpose of spinal stenosis surgery in the neck or waist is to free space for the spinal cord and/or nerve roots. This is called decompression and reduces nerve inflammation. Another goal of spine stenosis is to increase the motor force of the hands or legs. If you have lost sensitivity in your arms or legs, surgery is also intended to restore it. Typically used two surgical methods for spine stenosis:
- decompression : a surgeon removes a tissue pressing to the nerve structure that releases more space in the spinal canal (for the spinal cord) or in the opening (for nerve roots).

If the operation is performed through a large cut on the back, it is considered an open method. Another option is a minimally invasive surgery, which is performed through a few small cuts. The surgeon can use a microscope, endoscope or minicamer and sufficiently tiny surgical tools. Even transpedicular screws that secure the vertebrae are installed.
However, minimally invasive surgery is not suitable for everyone. If you need to work many vertebrae, you may need an open operation.
